Description
AGR Rock Ram Power Steering System Kit for Jeep MJ Comanche 1987-96; Jeep Cherokee XJ 1987-96; Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ 1991-98 with 4.0L engine. Good for up to 40" tires.
The system consists of the trail proven Super Box 1, a RockRam Power Steering Pump and the RockRam hydraulic ram cylinder. The box has been ported and modified to provide the flow of fluid to the RockRam cylinder via hydraulic fittings installed in the Super Box. The kit also includes the spherical rod ends, hose, fittings and hardware to install the RockRam system.
The RockRam applications for the 4.0 and 2.5L fuel injected Jeeps require extensive modifications to mount the full size Saginaw P-series Super Pump that is included in the kit. AGR now offers kits for these applications with the TC-pump, a bolt in replacement for the stock unit. We also build this kit for the earlier Jeeps with the P-series pump. Both of these applications use the small piston steering box, which speeds up the steering reaction time. This kit does work well in various types of short course racing where steering response is critical. These new kits will turn tires up to 39.5 inches with no problem. For tires 40 inches or larger, the original RockRam with the full size pump is highly recommended.
