Floating the axles eliminates the axle shaft from having to support the vehicle weight as well as hold the wheels on. This lessens the stress on the axles . These kits use high yield strength axles and feature the largest spline count possible, which is limited only by the differential. Internal splined wheel hubs eliminate bolts and are guaranteed to never loosen. Additional features include spring loaded lip seals in the wheel hubs and spindles and o-ring seals in the hub lock interface. These kits are now sold as two part systems: the "foundation kit" and either drive flanges or hublock sets (see below). Drive flanges are designed for people who do not flat tow or who experience excessive driveline backlash from a mechanical locker.
