A
Harsh But Honest Review of the Compass
As the author puts it "Jeep is one of America's iconic brands,
like Nike, Harley-Davidson and Coca-Cola. Jeep has a long story,
one that reaches back more than half a century to World War II,
when the plucky, rugged vehicle won the hearts of G.I. Joes and
played no small part in the Allies' victory....Now, when you start
messin' around with an icon, when you ignore the core values upon
which the brand gained its iconic status, no good is bound to
come of it. Just ask the folks at Cadillac...." "You'd
suppose that the managers at DaimlerChrysler would understand
a thing or two about brand management." Haven't we been saying
the same thing? What are the Jeep folks thinking?!

Problems At Chrysler - Another Recall
How many times can we say another recall? These folks have some
production issues. After receiving dozens of reports of fires
in the Dodge Durango and the Toledo-built Jeep Liberty sport utility
vehicles, the Chrysler Group recalled nearly 500,000 vehicles
on March 9th. Chrysler said it received 66 fire reports in Dodge
Durango SUVs from the 2004-2006 model years because of electrical
overloads. It is recalling 328,424 Durangos. The automaker also
recalled 149,605 Libertys from the 2006-2007 model years to fix
the heating-ventilation-air conditioning blower motor. Chrysler
had received a dozen reports of fires for the Liberty.
DaimlerChrysler
May Not Sell the Jeep Line
The rumors have been running that DaimlerChrysler AG has been
looking to dump the Chrysler Group.
Now the rumors are that Daimler may keep the Jeep line! We'd prefer
them to sell it. After all, since they've been involved all they
have done is butcher what was once an outstanding image!
Consumers
Can Test Jeeps On Indoor Track At Chicago Auto Show
It's not getting old yet, and maybe it never will. For the third
year in a row, consumers can take free test rides in Jeeps at
three test tracks inside McCormick Place South during the 2007
Chicago Auto Show. The show runs from Feb. 9 thru the 18th.
Jeep
Teams With Marvel Comics in Unique Marketing Concept
You have to hand it to the Jeep marketing team of late. They have
really found unique ways to market their product and the latest
push for the new Patriot is another gem. Jeep and Marvel Comics
are letting customers write their own comic strip, called the
"Patriot Factor," which features four main characters, bad guys,
some intrigue and, a Jeep Patriot to help save the day, of course.
You can go to www.patriotadventure.com
and propose your story. People that are selected for contributing
eye-catching elements for the story will get a co-author credit
the completed product, which is to be published in late March/April.
Chrysler
Production Problems Continue To Haunt Them
Chrysler is recalling 62,400 Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep 2007 vehicles
because the braking systems may fail to work. The recall includes
2007 Jeep Commanders, Jeep Compass, Jeep Grand Cherokees, Jeep
Libertys, and Jeep Wranglers. They will need to reprogram the
system Electronic Control Unit. The announcement on the vehicles
that need to be reprogrammed are due any day!
Review
of the Patriot
Is the Cherokee back with just a different name? The author sure
seems to love the Patriot.
Review
of the 2007 Wrangler Rubicon
In short it says, great off-road performance weak in city and
suburbs. Do we care? No. Its what a Jeep is supposed to be about.
It's not a family wagon!
